'Not guilty' verdicts in Pa. elder abuse case

MEDIA, Pa. - December 15, 2011

The verdict issued by Judge Kevin Kelly followed a one-day non-jury trial held December 9th.

Ayesha Muhammad, Samirah Traynham and Tyina Griffin had been charged with simple assault, false imprisonment and neglect of care in the case of a 78-year-old resident at the Quadrangle Continuing Care Retirement Community in Haverford, Pa.

Authorities said the abuse was captured on a hidden camera after the Alzheimer's patient complained to her family she was being abused by wokers.

The woman's family set up a camera and captured footage which prosecutors said showed the defendants taunting the woman as she stood half-naked in her room.

The woman's family sued the facility's operator in October.
