It happened just before 1:00 a.m. Saturday in the southbound lanes near Holme Street in Northeast Philadelphia.
Police say the driver of a vehicle slammed into a tree with such impact that the car was split in half.
A male in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another male, also in his 20s was taken to Aria Hospital-Torresdale Division, were he died from his injuries.
No word on the identities of the victims.
Police are still investigating what caused the driver to lose control.
