Officials step up efforts to find missing toddler

WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - December 21, 2011

Waterville Police Chief Joseph Massey said Wednesday that more than 160 tips had come in the case of Ayla Reynolds.

Father Justin DePietro said he put Ayla Reynolds to bed Friday night at his home in Waterville. He called police to report her missing the next morning.

Searchers have looked through trash bins and even lowered a stream for signs of Ayla.

Residents planned to hold a candlelight vigil for Ayla on Wednesday night. The girl's mother, Trista Reynolds, was expected to be among those attending.
