2 teens shot in Wilmington attempted robbery

Police are searching for the gunman who shot two teens in Wilmington early Friday morning.

Two 19-year-old males were found around 2:10 a.m. lying wounded on the 800 block of Wollaston Street.

One of the victims had been shot in the chest, police said, while the other was shot in the lower back.

The victims told police they were in the 600 block of North Jefferson Street when two men, armed with handguns, approached from an alley and demanded money.

The victims tried to flee and were shot, police said.

The suspects were last seen running east on 6th Street from Jefferson.

Both males were taken to Christiana Hospital and listed in stable condition.

Police continue to investigate.
