Officers received a report of an assault around 9:00 a.m. Friday in the 5700 block of Cherry Street.
Investigators say another woman, walking through the courtyard of the Mount Carmel Garden apartments, came across the victim.
That woman then called 911.
It is not clear if the woman was robbed.
Police say the suspect is a person about 5'7" tall wearing a black hoodie and dark jeans. No further details were available.
