Thirty-seven-year-old Darrold Thomas of Killeen, Texas, entered the plea Thursday.
He faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison at sentencing on Dec. 12.
During a change of plea hearing, Thomas admitted he got heroin in 2010 from a former captain in the U.S. Army working as a contractor in Afghanistan.
Thomas received the heroin concealed in DVD cases.
