The accident happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Martin Luther King Drive at the intersection of Montgomery Drive.
Sources tell Action News that the SUV, which is the mayor's city-owner personal vehicle and was on its way to pick up the mayor, collided with a work van.
The Philadelphia police officer that was driving the SUV was transported to the hospital along with the driver of the van.
There is no word on what led to the accident.
