Jury to weigh death penalty in dismemberment case

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - November 13, 2012

A Chester County jury is scheduled to being hearing from witnesses Monday in the penalty phase of Laquanta Chapman's murder trial.

Chapman was convicted of first-degree murder last week in the October 2008 killing of 16-year-old Aaron Turner. Authorities in Chester County say Chapman killed Turner over a drug debt then dismembered him in his Coatesville basement and disposed of his body.

A co-defendant in the case testified against Chapman, saying he helped cut up Turner's body. The Daily Local News of West Chester reports Chapman's attorney argued that testimony was tainted.

Turner's remains were never found.
