The crash happened just before 2:00 a.m. near the intersect ion of Germantown Avenue and Windrim Avenue.
Police say the driver lost control of the car, with the vehicle plummeting 70 feet down the embankment onto railroad tracks.
Even though rescuers had trouble reaching him, they eventually managed to get him out of the wreckage and took him to the hospital.
The 40-year-old man was listed in stable condition. His name has not been released.
An investigation into the cause of this crash continues.
