Camden police officer suspended over parking

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - November 30, 2012

It happened along Federal Street outside the police union headquarters.

However, some believe the punishment imposed by Police Chief Scott Thomson doesn't fit the crime.

City Councilman Brian Coleman tells The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill the suspension is an abuse of power. Coleman says the officer should just pay the $250 fine for using a handicapped parking space.

Union chief John Williamson tells the newspaper the union plans to appeal.
