The assault happened last Wednesday shortly before 4:00 p.m. at the 5th Street Deli on the 4500 block of 5th Street.
A teenage girl savagely beaten and the entire ordeal was caught on tape.
The disturbing video shows a 16-year-old girl being dragged by the hair by a mob of teenagers. Once outside, she was pummeled, kicked and beaten.
"All I'm thinking is they are going to kill me," she said.
The mother of the young girl doesn't want her daughter identified, but she is appalled by the attack.
"I've been saying to myself when did it become okay for kids to be little gangsters," said Denise Nunez.
Her daughter doesn't know the mob of teens that pounced a week ago.
She was walking home from Esperanza Charter when one of the girls began to pick a fight.
"I'm hearing her walk behind me. I have my book bag, and I then turn around and she punches me," she said.
"Apparently from people in the neighborhood with whom I spoke since the incident, this girl is the neighborhood bully," her mom said.
The young girl tried to seek refuge with her friend inside the 5th Street Deli.
The alleged neighborhood bully and her friends attacked her not once, not twice, but three times; the final time dragging her out of the deli.
The 16-year-old was brought to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
She suffered a sprained neck, a concussion, stitches behind her ear, and bruises all over her body. She spent three nights in the hospital.
Police have one 17-year-old male is in custody, but they are searching for more than a dozen others they want to question including the alleged bully.
The suspect is charged with aggravated assault, robbery and other related offenses.
Detectives are hoping the surveillance video will help bring the mob of violent teens to justice.
