Sandy Hook raises questions about school safety

PHILADELPHIA - December 17, 2012

In the wake of Friday's school tragedy in Connecticut, parents want to know what safety measures are being taken to keep their children safe.

Philadelphia school officials say they have a number of preventative measures.

Philadelphia mandatory drills are already in place, including simulated lockdowns.

Each school is expected to have their own unique safety plan.

Chief Insp. Cynthia Dorsey of the Philadelphia Police says, "Communication is certainly a key....prevention, if there are any irate persons, we have to let students know as well as administrators communicate to the police department, so we can help this from happening."
