Eagles' Michael Vick speaks for the first time since concussion

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - December 17, 2012

Back then, Vick was the Eagles' starting quarterback. Today he was working with the scout team. I asked him if he agreed with that decision.

"I'm a competitor and I've always felt like and will continue to feel like I'm one of the best and I can play at a high level and I know I can," said Vick. "Saying that, I feel like I want to be out there, I want to play as a competitor, but it's just not the ideal situation right now, the way things are. So, I have to accept my role, accept it like a man and continue to find positives out of it."

Vick was vague when it came to questions about his future with this franchise. All signs point to Foles as this team's next quarterback. So would he want to be in Philly even as Foles' backup?

"I just feel like I've got a lot of football to play," said Vick. "I feel like I've got a lot left in my tank. I'm enjoying the game, I feel fresh. I don't know. As of right now, I've got to continue to help this football team win these last two games and the future will take care of itself."

And in the meantime, Vick says he still appreciates the chance to be out there, in any capacity.

"I can't get upset or be disgruntled about anything that happens," said Vick. "It's just a blessing to be back and playing football. From where I came from and the opportunities that I've had over the last three or four years, I would have never thought."
