Ainsworth Mallet, his wife Jaqueline, and son, Drew, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police say Ainsworth and Jaqueline's 18-year-old daughter Nikki survived.

Also killed in the crash was the family dog.

Friends say the Mallets were originally from Jamaica before moving to the Atlanta metro area. They were on their way home after visiting family in Connecticut for the holidays when the fatal crash occurred.

New Jersey State Police say the accident occurred just after 10:00 a.m. Thursday between exits four and five in Mount Laurel.

The Mallets were traveling in a silver Toyota Camry when it collided with two tractor-trailers.

Action News spoke with the Paul family of Mount Laurel who lives in a neighborhood near the turnpike.

"All of a sudden, I hear a popped tire," Ryan Paul said.

"It looked like a lot of people were getting out to provide assistance," Glen Paul said.

For several hours police were diverting traffic from the Turnpike at Exit 7A in Robbinsville.

Police are still trying to sort out what led to the crash.
