It broke out around 5:25 a.m. at the Dollar Plus store located in a strip mall in the 3900 block of Ford Road.
Images from Chopper 6 HD over the scene showed firefighters on the roof of the building working to douse a smoky fire.
There were no reports of injuries.
A neighboring business, Chris's Pizza, was also damaged. The Philadelphia Department of Health was called in to assess the extent of damage to that business.
