Lehigh University diversity-focused residence vandalized

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - November 6, 2013

The Umoja House is home to 28 students at the Bethlehem school. The vandalism was discovered early Wednesday morning.

Lehigh University spokesman Jordan Reese said university police are investigating. He said university president Alice Gast plans to visit the house and meet with students.

Students told The Express-Times that the building has been targeted by vandalism before.

The Umoja House website says it was originally established "for underrepresented students of color at Lehigh University" but is open to "any student who values multiculturalism."

Umoja is a Swahili word meaning "unity."
