Gunman gets death in Philadelphia car wash 'execution'

PHILADELPHIA - November 15, 2013

Thirty-one-year-old Omar Sharif Cash was sentenced Friday by the same jury who convicted him of first-degree murder in the 29-year-old Muliek Brown.

Cash is already serving a life sentence without parole for a murder, carjacking and rape in Bucks County.

Jurors in the earlier Bucks County case deadlocked in 2010 on whether Cash deserved a death sentence, resulting in an automatic term of life without the possibility of parole.

Defense attorney Earl Kauffman had hoped the jury would spare Cash by looking beyond his client's record and considering a troubled childhood that left him to turn to the streets at the age of 6.
