Bensalem police officer injured in alleged DUI crash identified

LOWER SOUTHAMPTON TWP., Pa. - November 24, 2013

Officer Jennifer Stahl was the officer involved in the wreck around 7:30 p.m. Sunday near Brownsville Road and Old Street Road in Lower Southampton Township.

Surveillance video obtained by Action News shows the exact moment the officer pulled up to the light and the minivan slammed right into her vehicle.

"The red van came flying. There's no skid marks as you can see out there," said Alex Massir, witness.

Massir, the owner of Angela's II Pizzeria, could be seen on video running out of his restaurant to help Officer Stahl.

One second after that collision on Brownsville Road, the officer managed to flip on her lights, most likely to keep other traffic from hitting her in the intersection.

"I rushed to her to make sure she was okay. She said she was okay but she was crying," said Massir.

Massir says the female driver of the minivan, who is in her 50s, was pretty out of it. She was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and police even found a beer bottle in the vehicle.

"She was pretty drunk so obviously she's been doing this for a long while so I guess it was meant to be, she hit a cop car and this was the end of that," said Massir.

Officer Stahl was taken to Aria Health Torresdale division for neck and back pains.

The name of the other driver involved has not been released.
