TRENTON, N.J. - December 19, 2013 --
A murder in Trenton last night adds to the record breaking year for violence in the city. Police have identified the victim as 17-year-old Shamere Melvin of Princeton Avenue. Investigators say he was shot dead on North Clinton Aveune at 8:30 Wednesday night.
The Mercer County Prosecutor's office says this is Trenton's 35th murder this year.
The previous record of 31 murders was set in 2005.
