Fire crews were called out to the 200 block of Brookside Avenue around 3:00 a.m. Sunday.
Firefighters from Elsmere and neighboring departments fought the blaze for approximately 45 minutes before getting the fire under control.
Flames melted the siding on neighboring homes.
According to fire officials, the home was recently foreclosed on and was not occupied.
State fire investigators are searching for those persons responsible for intentionally causing this fire. Anyone with information is asked to contact deputy fire marshals at (302) 323 -5375 or Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.
Heavy fire damage was estimated at $150,000.
There were no reported injuries.
