Sean Dale, 28, of the 100 block of E. 25th Street, was the passenger of a car that crashed into a stop sign at 28th and Carter Streets around 5:00 p.m.
Detectives say Dale had been shot repeatedly.
He was taken to the Christiana Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made.
Dale's killing is Wilmington's second murder of 2014.
