Fire broke out in a home on the 300 block of East Leamy Avenue just before 8:00 p.m.
The victim who died has been identified as 86-year-old Mildred O'Hara. Authorities say soot and smoke inhalation as well as extensive burns contributed to her death.
Officials say heavy fire and smoke were coming from the two and a half story residence when they arrived.
The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes.
A firefighter suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
