The crash happened just after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Reeceville Road exit.
Police told Action News a motorist lost control and left the road.
Images from Chopper 6 HD over the scene showed a heavily damaged vehicle that appeared to have struck the concrete support of an overpass.
There was no immediate word what led to the accident or the identity of the victim.
The eastbound Route 30 bypass was shut down between the Reeceville Road and Coatesville exits for more than two hours as police investigated and crews worked to clear the scene.
The road was back open by 11:30 a.m.
