It happened around 3:15 Monday afternoon near Olden Avenue and Prospect Street.
The officer was responding to the report that a tractor-trailer struck a telephone pole and the driver fled.
While arriving to the scene, the officer's cruiser was struck by another vehicle.
Authorities say the officer was not injured. The driver of the striking vehicle was also not injured but his female passenger was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
No word yet if the driver of the fleeing tractor-trailer was ever found.
The incident is under investigation.
