Man charged in theft of bank cards from mail center

MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. - March 21, 2014

On Thursday 45-year-old John Smith was charged with bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Federal investigators say from January 2011 to January 2013, Smith removed hundreds of Bank of America cards from this Pitney-Bowes mail distribution center in Muhlenberg Township.

He would then allegedly sell the stolen cards to a co-conspirator for $100 each, knowing the cards would be used to make fraudulent purchases.

If convicted, Smith faces 32 years behind bars and a $1.25 million dollar fine.
