Crews were called to the 5900 block of Norwood Street just after 8:00 p.m.
The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.
Police say the body of a woman believed to be in her 30's and a dog were found inside.
Officials say the fire started in the kitchen area and spread smoke throughout the house.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
