A Catholic church in Philadelphia's Fishtown section is closing immediately because of safety issues.

Engineers recommended closing the Saint Laurentius Church saying it is in "imminent danger of collapse."

An inspection of the façade last fall found serious maintenance problems for issues like cracks in the masonry.

A follow-up this week found the conditions greatly deteriorated because of the harsh winter.
