The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 200 block of West Elm Street.
Firefighters arrived at the Grande at Riverview condominium complex to find a fourth floor residence in flames.
The sprinkler system was activated, and fire officials said the fire did not spread beyond one residence.
One person was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Evacuated residents gathered at a nearby fire house. Officials said it appeared everyone was accounted for.
Residents remained out of their homes at 5:30 a.m. It was not clear when they would be allowed back in.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
