The accident happened around 3:00 a.m. Sunday near the Broad Street exit.
Police say 20-year-old Gabriel Sanchez was driving a 2007 Nissan Armade, travelling southbound.
According to authorities, that's when he struck the back of a 2007 Volkswagon Jetta, driven by 25-year-old Aason Carbajal.
The impact sent Carbajal's vehicle into a concrete barrier. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in Sanchez's vehicle was injured and hospitalized in an unknown condition.
Neither Sanchez nor his passenger were wearing seatbelts.
Police are investigation whether intoxication played a role in the crash.
