It happened around 12:30 Sunday afternoon at the Frazer Diner on the 100 block of Lancaster Avenue.
Utility crews were able to secure the gas line.
The diner was safely evacuated and no one was injured.
The incident caused some traffic delays along Lancaster Avenue between Deerfield Lane and Malin Road.
No word what sparked the gas leak.
