Police in Dover say an 82-year-old man was tied up in his home, stabbed and robbed by a pair who threatened to cut off his ear.

Cpl. Mark Hoffman says the man called 911 from his home on South Halsey Road once he was able to free himself seven hours later on Thursday morning. Police say the man is being treated at an area hospital and is expected to recover.

Police say officers acting on a tip arrested 33-year-old Shirley Smith, an acquaintance of the victim, at a shopping center. She has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, weapons charges and other offenses.

Police say they are still looking for a second suspect, 38-year-old Timothy Safford of Dover, who faces the same charges.
