It happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. Sunday on northbound 1-95 near the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge between the Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue exits.
Authorities say a Toyota Corolla caught fire, forcing a temporary closure of northbound I-95 at Bridge Street.
The woman was able to get out of the vehicle.
She was taken to Aria Health Torresdale in good condition.
The roadway reopened about a half hour later.
