Did you know the average cost for campers ranges from $300 to $700 a week?
It doesn't have to cost that much.
First up check out the YMCA. The global organization offers a number of inexpensive options, including day and weeklong sleep away camps.
The Boys and Girls Club of America is another possibility. Most of the clubs offer summer camp programs or at least a place for kids to play sports or learn a craft. In addition, the Boys and Girls Clubs reach out to those you can't afford another community program.
Look into city or park run programs. Check with your municipal office or local parks and recreation department to see what they offer.
Another idea? See if your local high school or university will be offering either a summer camp or recreational classes. Many offer inexpensive activities ranging from softball to drama to archery.
Finally, consider religious or faith-based organizations. Check your community center or house of worship to see what options they provide. You may be surprised to find they offer everything from half-day to weeklong camps.
