At least three people have been hospitalized following the crash, which happened before 8:30 a.m. on the drive near Greenland Drive.
Images from Chopper 6 HD over the scene showed a white minivan or SUV with front-end damage, a dark-colored sedan with rear-end damage and a dark-colored sedan lying on its side near a tree that appeared to have been crushed.
Medics transported two of the injured to Temple University Hospital and one to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Authorities say all of the injuries have been deemed non-life threatening.
MLK Drive was shut down in both directions as police investigated and crews worked to clear the wreckage.
