Gunfire erupts in North Philadelphia, stray bullet strikes home

A hail of gunfire broke out in North Philadelphia, sending a bullet into a nearby home and forcing a mail carrier to duck for cover.

It happened around 4:30 Saturday afternoon at 6th and Turner streets.

Authorities say shots were fired in the area, sending the mailman running for cover.

At least nine shell casings were found at the scene. Police say at least one of those bullets also went through the window of a home on the block.

No one was injured.

Police are checking whether surveillance cameras captured images of the scene.

No word what sparked the gunfire.
