It happened around 6:30 Saturday night at 58th and Chestnut streets.
Police say a woman in her 50s was driving a silver Nissan Altima when she ran a red light.
Her vehicle was struck by a gray Chevy Camaro and a blue Buick.
The female driver was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was pronounced dead.
Her 9-year-old passenger suffered an injury to the arm and was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in stable condition.
A man in his 20s, who was behind the wheel of the Camaro, suffered neck and back injuries as well as a cut to the head. He was taken to HUP in stable condition.
Police continue to investigate.
