A signal outage backed up traffic at a major intersection in Voorhees, New Jersey Tuesday morning.

It happened before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday on Route 561 at Evesham and Somerdale Roads.

Repair crews say it appears a small animal chewed through wires in the electrical box that controls the lights at the intersection.

Power was cut to about 15 traffic signals. Repair work was expected to take several hours.

Voorhees Police were at the scene and placed traffic cones in the area routing motorists through the area.

Commuters were told to expect delays and advised to use White Horse Road as an alternate route.
