Wife of slain Baton Rouge police officer pregnant with his child

BATON ROUGE, LA -- The widow of a fallen Baton Rouge police officer says she is pregnant with his child.

Dechia Gerald says she believes she conceived about five days before her husband's death.

Matthew Gerald was one of the three officers ambushed and killed in July.

Dechia says she is comforted knowing someone is watching over their family from above.

She said, "There is no better gift that a husband can leave behind than a child. A gift from God. There is no better gift than that."
