The whole idea of the Parkway was to connect Fairmount Park into the city.

PARKWAY HISTORY

The Benjamin Franklin Parkway was inspired by the Champs-Elysees in Paris, and the whole idea was to connect city residents to what was then the new Fairmount Park by bringing the park into the city and the city into the park. Jeannette Reyes takes a look at the history of this grand boulevard.

What the Parkway would've looked like if the original plans had been fully realized.

WHAT COULD'VE BEEN

The Benjamin Franklin Parkway is one of Philadelphia's most iconic spaces. Melissa Magee caught up with a longtime Philadelphia Tour Guide who painted a picture of what the Parkway WOULD'VE looked like if the original plans had gone according to plan.
