Camden jazz band seeks community's help to travel to international competition
The Camden Creative Arts High School jazz band has been selected as a finalist in the International Big Band Competition.

CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- The Camden Creative Arts High School jazz band has been selected as a finalist in the International Big Band Competition.

They're the first jazz band in history to make the cut.

The competition takes place in the Netherlands in June, but the students are hoping for the community's help to get them there.

"I never even thought I could afford it, but through my music playing and through the dedication that this band has given me and I've given it, I actually have an opportunity to do something that I may never have a chance to do in the rest of my life and the rest of our lives, so it would just be amazing," said trumpet player Joshua Sims.

The students need to raise $35,000 for the trip.

They've set up a GoFundMe page so people can help them get the international acclaim they deserve.
