Kitten dyed blue, likely used as doggie chew toy rescued

SAN JOSE, Calif. (WPVI) -- A kitten, likely used as a chew toy for a dog, is on the road to recovery.

The 8-week-old kitten dyed indigo was found with 20 deep puncture wounds and dropped off at a San Jose rescue shelter.

"Smurf" will undergo surgery next week to repair his wounds.

He's making friends quickly with another cat, "Cherry," and they will be placed in foster care next week together.
