2 area schools closed due to weather-related issues

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- At least two area schools are closed Wednesday due to weather-related problems.

Gunning Bedford Middle School in New Castle, Delaware is closed due to a broken heating system.

A note on the school's Facebook page on Tuesday read: "Although heat has been restored to several classrooms we have been advised that the repair process will not be completed by the start of the school day on January 3rd. As such Gunning Bedford Middle School will be CLOSED tomorrow January 3, 2018. Maintenance crews will be working throughout the night and tomorrow to continue the repairs. Thank you for your understanding as we work to resolve this matter and we apologize for any inconvenience. We will provide updates as repairs progress."

Chester High School will be closed again due to building maintenance issues. Teachers are still expected to report to the school.
