1 person in custody after shots fired in Doylestown, Pennsylvania

DOYLESTOWN, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- One person has been arrested after shots were fired in Doylestown, Pennsylvania on Thursday night.

According to Doylestown Mayor Ron Strouse, police responded after a 21-year-old man was firing his gun randomly inside a home on Belmont Square around 4:30 p.m. It does not appear any bullets exited the home.

Dozens of officers were spread out across a residential neighborhood in the area of Belmont Square near the intersection of Court and East streets.

Police say when they arrived, several more shots were fired from inside and a brief two-hour standoff began.

"I just pulled up the street and saw all these cops there and I saw a neighbor. He said that he heard three or four shots fired. And then I called another neighbor and he said the guy is holed up in the house and it's surrounded by SWAT," one resident told Action News.

Residents were told to shelter in place but that order has since been lifted.

Mayor Strouse says the man may have been dealing with drug-related issues.

No injuries were reported.

Charges are pending against the suspect.
