RALEIGH, N.C. -- In the wake of Hurricane Matthew, many families in North Carolina are going hungry. Power has been out for days, and some people are just looking for a meal.

The total death toll now stands at 25 in the state. Tens-of-thousands have been displaced and are in immediate need of aid. The Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC estimates that displaced victims will need food assistance for at least five months.

"These people have nothing. Nothing. And if you want to help, now is the time to help these people," North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory said. "They are sitting right now in high school gyms. There are whole families."

Please join with the ABC-owned family of stations in giving what you can. The Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC and ABC are helping get food to those in need. You can donate directly to the Food Bank online through its virtual food drive HERE.
