CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Today marked the end of Philadelphia's official mourning period for fallen officer Robert Wilson III.
Mayor Nutter was joined by Wilson's family, friends, and fellow officers at City Hall this morning where he delivered remarks honoring Wilson's sacrifice and heroism.
The officer, who was posthumously promoted to sergeant, was shot and killed back on March 5th when he came upon a robbery in progress in North Philadelphia.
"Sergeant Wilson saved the lives of 6, 7, 8 people in the store that day. And unfortunately gave his life in the protection of others," said Mayor Nutter.
Mayor Nutter and Commissioner Charles Ramsey presented a city flag to Wilson's family, including the two sons he left behind.
