There has been a temporary about face from US Navy when it comes to female recruits and haircuts.
Navy policy has always forced women entering boot camp to cut their hair so that it is only reaches 'the lower edge of the uniform collar' when they enter the boot camp pilot program.
But some female sailors complained since their hair can be longer once they graduate and officially enter the service.
So in response, the Navy has temporarily halted the haircuts.
For the first three months this year, they will allow the women to keep their hair longer so long as it keeps with the grooming policy, such as keeping it in a tight bun.
The Navy has been the only remaining branch of the US armed services to still require short hair.
