New data from the New Jersey Department of Health shows that vaccines are highly effective at preventing COVID-19.

There were just over 1,300 breakthrough cases reported between December and April.

That amounts to just 0.6% of the 2.2 million residents who were fully vaccinated in that time frame.

Of those breakthrough infections, 30 people were hospitalized because of COVID-19.

Seven people who were vaccinated have died.
