3 killed in car crash in Freehold; 1 in hospital

FREEHOLD, N.J. -- Authorities say they are investigating a crash in Freehold that left three people dead and another person in critical condition.

Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Charles Webster said the three-vehicle accident occurred Tuesday around 3:45 p.m. at Route 33 and Kozloski Road.

Investigators remained at the scene Tuesday evening.

Video from NBC New York's helicopter showed an SUV on top of another vehicle and a third vehicle nearby with its front end heavily damage and covered with a blue tarp.

The Asbury Park Press reported that two helicopters landed to fly injured victims to area hospital.

The identities of the victims weren't released pending the notification of their next of kin.
