PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has announced this year's recipients of the Marian Anderson Award.

Patti LaBelle and Gamble & Huff will be honored, representing a first-time focus on Philadelphia's contribution to the popular music world.

The award is named after the famous Philadelphia opera singer, and recognizes artists for their humanitarian efforts.

Last year, trumpeter Wynton Marsalis was honored.

This year's award ceremony will take place in November at the Kimmel Center.
