BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Police say they've cited 56 Lehigh University students for underage drinking at a weekend party, and have already fielded dozens of drinking-related complaints from residents who live near campus.
The school is continuing to crack down on drinking after four students nearly died and needed medical treatment for alcohol poisoning last school year.
The school has temporarily suspended two fraternities and warned two others about possible discipline for drinking-related incidents so far this academic year.
Bethlehem police Chief Edward Shupp says his officers are making additional patrols looking for excessive drinking and related problems.
The party busted about 1 a.m. Saturday had several hundred people at two neighboring off-campus homes.
